About the Company
Nationwide Mutual Life is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. They were founded in 1925 when the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation incorporated with the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. By 1943, Farm Bureau was operating in 12 states and the District of Columbia. In 1955 they changed their name to Nationwide insurance, and in 1996, Nationwide Financial went public. Since their modest beginnings, the company has grown and expanded. They currently have more than $157 billion in statutory assets. They provide auto, property, life, business and health insurances. They also offer investments and retirement services, and mortgage loans.
Nationwide Mutual Life has approximately 35,000 employees and more than 16 million policies in force. They are the #8 provider of variable life insurance, and #14 writer of individual annuities.
