About Ameritas
Ameritas was founded in 1887 in Lincoln, Nebraska under the name Old Bankers Life Insurance Company of Nebraska. In the beginning of the 20th century, Bankers Life grew from being a small insurance company that served the Midwest states, to becoming one of the 100 largest insurance companies that operates across the coast. In 1988, the company changed it's name to Ameritas Life Insurance Corporation to reflect their newly expanded product line. In 1998 the Ameritas Mutual Holding Company was formed.
The following companies are a part of the Ameritas family: Ameritas Variable Life, Ameritas Group Dental and Eye Care, Ameritas Retirement Plans, Ameritas Investment Corp., Ameritas Investment Advisors, Ameritas Direct, Ameritas Worksite Benefits, First Ameritas of NY. All companies in the Ameritas family remain headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ameritas Term Life Insurance Products
The following are a few basic features of Ameritas's basic term life insurance:
- The death benefit is only paid out if the policyholder dies while the policy is in effect.
- The term of the policy can last for ten or twenty years.
- There is no cash value accumulation with this policy.
- The premiums with a term life policy are much lower than they are with a permanent policy.
Ameritas also offers some alternative life insurance programs, including variable universal life, whole life, survivorship life, and universal life insurance.
